To buy or to build, that is the question

Generally speaking, our state has a higher proportion of homeowners who’ve built their home, over those that have moved into a pre-built dwelling. But that is beginning to change, as the building materials supply chain gets longer and more costly. Here are a few other factors you might want to bear in mind when deciding to either buy or build.

Pros for Buying:

  • CONVENIENCE – Once you have a pre-approved loan amount, you can simply shop around, pick a home, and make an offer
  • YOUR SCHEDULE – If you’re on a specific timeline, buying is the fast track, especially if you’re willing to compromise a little on your ideal home
  • LOCATION FIRST – For some, the address is one of the first considerations – we might need to live near work, school, friends and/or family – which is much easier to achieve when buying an existing home
  • CERTAINTY – One of the biggest pros to buying is a con to building – an existing home removes all the uncertainly around availability of construction materials and labour, which is in very high demand

Pros for Building:

  • FULFIL YOUR DREAM – This doesn’t mean you’re looking to build a palace – it simply means you are able to build the home that is ideally suited to you and your lifestyle
  • GOOD FOR YOU AND THE ENVIRONMENT – For the most part, building from new will already incorporate the latest and most environmentally friendly materials – with options for you to take this consideration to even greater lengths
  • TIME TO SAVE – Because building a home takes time, you have time to save as the full amount to be paid is only upon completion and when the builder hands over your keys

Of course, these comments are just the start of a longer discussion – in which the Connekt Sales Team would be happy to advise. Connekt with us at projects@connektup.com.au
